That’s Dampierre. He was in the PSP game, I forget the name. He’s in Soul Calibur V, but only for those who pre-ordered the game with Best-Buy, or…

I’m afraid so. The game, or a biography on the website, I forget (again) pretty much says “Oh, she was killed by malfested.” Yeah, Sophitia, who beat Soul Edge… was killed by a group of lowly malfested. Awesome. -_- As such, the story of V revolves around her two children, Patroklos and Pyrrha. Other new characters are Z.W.E.I, Viola, Natsu (Taki’s disciple), Xiba (Kilik’s disciple), Leixia (Xianghua’s daughter) Alpha Patroklos (Setsuka) and Omega Pyrrha.

As you can guess, this means Taki, Kilik and Xianghua are gone. Also gone are Cassandra, Yun-Seong, Seung-Mina, Talim, Zasalamel, Amy, Rock…

Yeah, a good chunk of the cast. With no explanation AT ALL. And what do we get to replace them? 3 mimic characters. THREE. Of which Kilik is one for no explained reason. And out of the new characters, only two are actually decent personality wise, Z.W.E.I and Viola, annoyingly they’re lower tier than the other new characters, who are all complete douches and overpowered (Alpha Pat = S Rank, Pat and both Pyrrha’s are A, I think Xiba is B maybe C, he’s the newb easy to use character.)

As you can tell, I’m slightly pissed by this game’s roster. Also the fact that Namco are no doubt going to make us buy the old characters as DLC. God, I wish online had never come to gaming, DLC is the biggest curse ever…

tl;dr: Sophitia is dead, almost half the roster is gone.

Huh. Nice to know that all the good game series I’ve liked recently have somewhat gone to shit in a year or so. Fortunately I have the actual chance to buy and play the game now, so hopefully I can get that through with to see how the game is personally.

And I really don’t get the whole DLC idea. Yeah, it’s a chance for cooler features and better gameplay, but really, they need to learn to use that shit properly. Capcom’s pulling the DLC bullcrap with the release of Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. (Of course, that’s going over just so wonderfully well with how pissed off the major half of the Capcom fanbase is now. /yay sarcasm/)
